Claudeforce questions, answered: pricing, availability, models, and what changes for you
Is Claudeforce free, when can you get it, does it replace Agentforce, which Salesforce products now run on Claude, and where does your data go. Twenty of the questions people are searching about the Salesforce and Anthropic partnership, each answered in plain words from the published sources, with the parts nobody has published marked as unknown.
Since August 26, most of the questions landing in my inbox about Salesforce have had the same word in them. Not “Agentforce”. Claudeforce.
They are short questions. Is it free. When do we get it. Do we have to switch. Where does the data go. The announcement answers some of them, the product page answers a few more, and a handful have no published answer yet. This post collects the ones people search for and gives each a plain answer, with the unknowns marked as unknown rather than guessed.

What Claudeforce is
What is Claudeforce?
Claudeforce is the name for the expanded partnership between Salesforce and Anthropic, announced on August 26, 2026. It covers three things: Claude running inside the Salesforce trust boundary, Claude becoming the default model in several Salesforce products, and Salesforce shipping as a plugin inside Claude. The name is a portmanteau of Claude and Salesforce. It is not a product you buy.
Is Claudeforce a product or a partnership?
A partnership. The first product under it is Salesforce in Claude, a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills. Everything else in the announcement is Claude being wired into products that already exist: Agentforce, Slack, Agentforce Vibes, Agentforce Coworker and Headless 360.
Who announced Claudeforce, and when?
Salesforce and Anthropic announced it together on August 26, 2026, alongside Salesforce’s second-quarter earnings, with statements from Marc Benioff and Dario Amodei in the press release. Salesforce’s stock rose sharply the same day, which is why the name reached people who never read release notes.
Does Claudeforce replace Agentforce?
No. Agentforce is the platform for building and running agents on Salesforce data. Claude is now the default reasoning model in parts of it, and Salesforce in Claude is a new front door to the same data. Your agents, topics, actions and guardrails stay where they are. If you want the platform explained from scratch, start with what Agentforce is.
Is Salesforce being replaced by Claude?
No, despite the headline that said you would never need the Salesforce app again. Every read and write from the plugin runs through your existing Salesforce permissions and business rules. The system of record, the sharing model, the validation rules and the Flows are all still Salesforce. Claude is an interface to them.
Cost and availability
Is Claudeforce free?
No free option has been announced. Salesforce has not published pricing for Salesforce in Claude, and the press release notes that pricing and packaging are subject to change. The Claude defaults inside Agentforce, Vibes, Coworker and Slack come with those products rather than as a separate charge, as far as the published materials say.
How much does Claudeforce cost?
No price has been published, and Dreamforce did not add one. The clearest description so far is that consumption runs on two meters: Salesforce API calls against your org’s entitlement, and Anthropic tokens on your Anthropic contract, with no cap on the second. Salesforce has not confirmed how the two bills relate.
Ask your account team which contract the plugin lands on, and run a measured pilot before committing an org, because the token profile of a seller who reviews forty opportunities a morning is unknown until you measure it. Agentforce’s own metering is unchanged, and the Flex Credit model still applies to agents.
When is Claudeforce available?
Now, in beta. At Dreamforce on September 15, Salesforce said Salesforce in Claude is available to all customers in beta, up from the select-customer pilot it launched in on August 26. Additional skills, including service, marketing and commerce, begin launching in late 2026. The Claude defaults inside Slack and Agentforce products are live. Updated September 20.
How do I get access to Salesforce in Claude?
The beta is open to all customers as of Dreamforce, distributed through AppExchange and the Claude Enterprise marketplace according to practitioner coverage. When I checked on September 20, Salesforce’s Claudeforce page still described pilot access and a planned open beta, so the page is behind the keynote. Ask your account team if the listing is not visible to you yet. Apex Hours’ technical write-up notes the plugin requires API version 67.0 or later, which any org on Summer ‘26 or Winter ‘27 already has.
Which Salesforce edition or licence do I need?
Not published. The announcement does not tie Salesforce in Claude to an edition, and the September edition changes to Core, Advanced and Max do not mention it. Treat this as a question for your account team rather than something to infer.
Is Claudeforce available outside the United States?
The published materials do not say. The pilot is by selection and the open beta timeline is global in wording, but no regional availability list exists yet. If you are outside the US, ask before you plan a rollout date.
Claude inside Salesforce products
Which Salesforce products use Claude by default?
Per the press release, Claude is the default model for Slack AI and Slackbot, for Salesforce in Claude, for Headless 360, and for Agentforce Coworker, as well as for Claude Code inside Salesforce’s own engineering organisation. Practitioner write-ups add Agentforce Vibes and Claude Tag and Slack Code inside Slack. In Agent Builder, Claude is a selectable model rather than a forced one.
Do I have to switch my Agentforce agents to Claude?
No. Claude is a default in specific products, not the only option. Agentforce still has a model menu, bring-your-own model through Model Builder, and per-subagent overrides. An agent already in production on another model keeps running unchanged. Treat the new default as a starting configuration to test against your own evaluation set, not a migration.
How do I turn on Claude in Agentforce?
For Coworker, Vibes and Slack, the published position is that Claude is now the default, so there is nothing to turn on.
For an agent you build, pick Claude in the model selection when you author or edit the agent. For Salesforce in Claude, an admin connects the plugin once at the org level. The plugin authenticates each user through OAuth against an External Client App with the mcp_api scope, per Apex Hours, so every call runs as the person asking.
Which Claude models does Claudeforce use?
The Claudeforce page promises zero data retention on Sonnet, Opus and Haiku, which tells you the three model families are in scope. Neither company has published which specific versions sit behind each product, and that will change over time. If a particular model matters to your evaluation, check the current model list in Agent Builder rather than a blog post, this one included.
What is Salesforce in Claude, and what are the 37 skills?
Salesforce in Claude is a plugin that lets a seller work their Salesforce data from inside a Claude conversation.
The product page groups the 37 skills into five jobs: the daily briefing and pipeline review, deal strategy such as stakeholder mapping and objection handling, account growth such as lead triage and customer-health checks, meeting preparation with the follow-up drafted, and data management such as activity logging and hygiene checks. All 37 are sales skills for now. I went through them, and how to pilot them, in the plugin guide.
Does Claudeforce work with Slack?
Yes, and Slack is where the change is most visible. Claude is now the default model for Slack AI, Slackbot and Claude Tag, and for Slack Code, the collaborative coding feature announced in the same period. If your team runs employee agents in Slack, the model underneath them is Claude by default.
How does the plugin connect to my org?
Through Salesforce’s hosted MCP server, the same Headless 360 MCP server that exposes Data 360 to external clients. The server offers a small set of tools, Discover, Describe and Dispatch, and Claude uses them to find the right operation and call it. If you have read about connecting Agentforce to an MCP server, this is the same standard running in the other direction.
Security and data
Where does my data go with Claudeforce?
Inference for Claude inside Salesforce runs through Amazon Bedrock inside the Salesforce trust boundary, which is the architectural claim Salesforce makes most strongly. For the plugin, the Claudeforce page promises zero data retention with Anthropic. The Einstein Trust Layer still applies to Agentforce agents as before. For a regulated buyer, the combination is the point of the whole announcement.
Does Anthropic train on my Salesforce data?
Salesforce states the plugin runs with zero data retention on Sonnet, Opus and Haiku, which means prompts and responses are not stored by Anthropic and so cannot be used for training. One caveat comes from Anthropic itself, as reported by The Register: zero data retention is a configuration customers should confirm is in effect rather than assume. Put that check on your pilot list.
What are Enterprise Frontier Safeguards?
An Anthropic programme, rolling out in phases from the fall of 2026, that keeps the activity data used for misuse detection in cloud storage the customer controls, in S3, Azure Blob or Google Cloud Storage under the customer’s own keys and audit logging, with flagged signals routed to the customer rather than read by Anthropic.
It pairs with zero data retention so a regulated customer gets both privacy and misuse monitoring.
Can Claude in the plugin see data a user is not allowed to see?
No. Salesforce’s statement is that Claude sees only what a given user is authorised to see and can only do what that user is authorised to do. A write from Claude is an ordinary API write as that user, so validation rules, Flows and Apex triggers fire as normal.
The practical consequence is that an over-permissioned profile is now reachable by a model that will use whatever it is given. Review user permissions before the beta reaches your sellers.
Understanding the basics
Is Claudeforce the same as Agentforce?
No. Agentforce is Salesforce’s product for building and running AI agents. Claudeforce is the partnership under which Anthropic’s Claude became the default model in several Salesforce products and Salesforce became a plugin inside Claude. Agentforce keeps its model menu, and Claude is one option in it.
What should a Salesforce admin do about Claudeforce right now?
Three things. Check that no integration or profile grants more access than it should, because the plugin runs as the user and will use whatever it is given. Decide which model your production agents should run on by testing, not by default. And if sales wants the plugin, run a small pilot in a preview sandbox with outbound email set to confirm before send.
Does Claudeforce need Data 360?
The published materials do not list Data 360 as a requirement for Salesforce in Claude. The plugin reads CRM data through Salesforce’s hosted MCP server. Agentforce agents still ground through Data 360 the way they did before the announcement, so nothing there changes.
Where can I see Claudeforce demonstrated?
At Dreamforce, September 15 to 17, 2026, where Salesforce is showing Salesforce in Claude live, and on the Claudeforce page, which carries the skill groups and a waitlist form.
The two questions I would ask before anyone else’s
Most of the questions above have answers you can look up. Two do not, and they are the two that decide whether this costs you anything.
Which contract does the plugin’s consumption land on, and what does a heavy user cost per week. And which of your profiles would you be embarrassed to see a capable model exercise. Get answers to those in a pilot and the rest of Claudeforce is a settings change.
